Photoshop is one of those tools that is one of the most useful things for an artist to learn. How many times did you think a design idea you had would be just perfect, only to find out that the colors or layout didn’t work once you hit the canvas? I think it’s happened to us all. If you take a bit of time to learn how to use one of the many types of photo editing software available you can make designing your next painting or drawing SO much easier.
This is especially helpful if you take portrait commissions. You can use the tricks I’m about to show you to show your clients what their pet will look like against several background ideas before you ever start. I HATE having to go back and change a color on a background because a client thought they wanted red when in reality red looked terrible with their pet’s color. Using photoshop to test out these sorts of things has kept me from having to repaint anything in years!
