Feeling overwhelmed in your art business or even in just learning new painting and drawing techniques? Try doing this to remove the stress!
There is so much to learn when working on your art career. On top of learning painting and drawing techniques, you have a million things to learn on the business side too! Simply building your website can feel like too much to tackle.
Instead of looking at what you’re working on as a whole, break it down into one bite sized chunk. A single task. You want to improve your landscape paintings? Try focusing JUST on values, or lighting. Don’t fuss over the perfect detail in the grass. Or break the painting into a single square inch to focus on.
Working on building your website? Pick one element. Don’t worry about what you’re going to put on each page. Today, just pick a color theme. Break down these huge tasks into a single focus. Maybe one thing to focus on per hour, per day or even per week. Sometimes when we try and do it all at once it feels like too much and we get nothing done at all.
I like to make a list of everything I want to accomplish and just pick one task on that list to work on. Once I’ve done it, I cross it out with a highlighter. This helps me to see what I’ve accomplished and guides me through what my next tasks will be.
We all need to be reminded “Don’t drink the paint water” and other fun artist sayings.
Why not wear it on our clothes or coffee mugs to make sure we don’t forget? LachriMerch.com
