Did you know you can use Liquitex Pouring medium as a background for an acrylic painting? With a few simple tricks you can create something both realistic and abstract!

  1. Make sure you let your pouring medium portion dry for at least 3 days before you paint your subject over it.
  2. Use a glazing medium instead of water to thin your acrylic paints so that the paint will bind to the pouring medium. If you thin the paints with water, it won’t stick!
  3. Use a high gloss varnish over the finished painting to even out the gloss between the subject and the pouring medium.
